Plitvice Lakes National Park has 16 lakes of various sizes, interconnected by cascades and waterfalls. Plitvice is the largest, oldest and most visited Croatian national park. Plitvice is one of the 10 Croatian beauties placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979, 30 years after it was protected as a national park. The park covers an area of ​​almost 30 ha. It was named after the shallow pools of water. The largest lake in the park is Lake Kozjak. The park is divided into Upper and Lower Lakes. Over 1,200 plants have been registered in the park, 50 of which are from the orchid family.
It is a unique experience to see Plitvice Lakes in winter when they are covered in snow. It is a beautiful sight when the waterfalls are frozen.

Rastoke village, a small mill settlement often called “Plitvice in miniature”, where the Slunjčica River flows over travertine rocks into the Korana River. It is an unforgettable moment when you walk through Rastoke along the mills, waterfalls, lakes and enjoy this untouched natural beauty. Rastoke was built 300 years ago and is proof that harmony between man and nature is possible. The houses are actually thousands built above the waterfalls of the 2 rivers. Today, these houses have their tourist purpose, but many are still residences for the local population.

Itinerary

  • 7:00 am departure from Zagreb in front of the Lisinski Hall or by arrangement, then drive along the A1 motorway to the Karlovac exit,
  • continuation drive along the D1 via Slunj towards the Plitvice Lakes National Park,
  • approx. 9:15 am arrival in Plitvice, free time sightseeing and tour of Plitvice Lakes until 1:00 pm (Plitvice Lakes opening hours: 8:00 am -1:00 pm)
  • meeting at the van with a break (lunch? / by arrangement) followed by return, we continue the drive to Slunj (Rastoke)
  • sightseeing and tour of Rastoke, possible (lunch? / by arrangement)
  • followed by drive towards Zagreb.
  • 7:00 pm expected arrival in Zagreb.
